Up after falling asleep a bit too early tonight, I decided to listen to some music. One of the first songs to come on when I turn my iTunes on was "You Rock My World" Michael Jackson. Me being a big MJ fan I caught myself snapping my fingers to this song. I can not listen to this song and not think of his special on CBS with Chris Tucker. It was a night that I definitely will never forget. I appreciate Chris Tucker being such a good friend to MJ because it shows in this video. One thing I love about his music is the emotion you feel when you listen to it. I remember growing up and getting trouble for being in church doing Michael Jackson spins. My aunt Peggy would smack me every time. "Steven you playing with God", I would be hurt but I laugh every time because I honestly felt like I was not doing anything wrong. But on a serious note it was truly his music that made me interested in learning about artist and the music business itself. I definitely miss Michael Jackson being alive, and am thankful that I was able to be alive to witness his greatness.
The next song is "Sexmachine" by James Brown. This song makes me want to start running, do splits, a back flip of the walls. It's one of my favorite songs because it's such a feel good song. James Brown is a artist that you can place on random and will not hear a bad song. Get On UP! There is no possible way to listen to this song and not feel good or be happy. The elements of music in this song are nothing but great and special. Definitely a must have for the dance floor on my wedding day. Purely the reason we have a Michael Jackson to listen to. And for that I am greatly thankful for the late great music genius The Legend JAMES BROWN.
Extra Note: Here is a laugh from a young Eddie Murphy
"Coming Home" Leon Bridges Song Of The Day (Stuck In My Head) S.I.M.H.
Today I chose a new artist Leon Bridges. He recently released an album called "Coming Home" with this being the first single. Also being the same name "Coming Home" is a beautiful song. It's a love song and I personally feel like that type of music is missing from the radio today. His sound is unlike anyone of this generation and I admire him for that. He stays truth to his own lane and sound with the classic feel. One of many reasons i believe you will see another song from him again soon.
